AyO Wins Three Medals in Napa + Our Mid-Year Resolutions

We're pleased to share that Rancho Azul y Oro has been honored with three medals in the Napa Valley Olive Oil Competition: A Silver Medal for our Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil, a Silver Medal for our Orange-Infused Olive Oil, and a Bronze Medal for our Lemon-Infused Olive Oil.
With this announcement comes the end of our competition year, a full-court press to finish bottling and labeling, taking advantage of every opportunity to market and share the oil with you (Translation: Buy Olive Oil).
This stage also causes us to review and reflect upon how we can improve things next year, call it our New Year's in May:
- Avoid rookie mistakes: Review established procedures each year and follow them to avoid errors we made when we were newbies that shouldn't be happening. Most mistakes happen when we're in a hurry and there is a price to be paid for haste.
- Refine and Rework: Crafting recipes to infuse olive oil is rocket science, combined with art, as are many businesses. If something isn't working, figure out why and fix it. Plain and simple. Take the time during the non-harvest time of year (whatever your slow time is) to think creatively, invent, and reinvent.
- Marketing does not stop for harvest: In any business, marketing needs to be done year-round. When we began and were uncertain of what our harvest yields would be, we slowed down our marketing efforts during harvest because we were never certain of our yield. If we over-marketed and did not have the product, we would lose credibility in the marketplace. We fixed some of the variability factor in our yield and now need to keep educating our customers and consumers about the benefits of EVOO all year round.
- Streamline: As we grow and have less and less time, we have realized this is an opportunity to review what is working in our product lineup and eliminate what is not. Chances are pretty good that the most work-intensive products are the products that are not selling as well. It is truly an opportunity to focus and create more time to improve everything else.
- Remember "Why": We see blogs and posts all the time by wineries, other EVOO producers, etc. about dogs, cats, an art show they attended, etc. We love animals and art, but unless it is relevant to our business and to those who may click on a post or link to gain useful information, it is not beneficial and takes up everyone's time unnecessarily. Every so often, it is important to review and remember Why You Started and Who You Are. Our goal is not to be a restaurant or a wedding venue. We produce a limited amount of extraordinary, award-winning olive oil. Our goal is to share this quality product with as many people as we can.
So with this post-game wrap-up, we are ready to take on the world and share our amazing, award-winning olive oil with the world. Why not discover California's Newest Gold and treat yourself -- you deserve it! How can you buy our olive oil? Right here!
